When Everyone's Quitting … Except You | Harvard Business Review

WHEN EVERYONE'S QUITTING … EXCEPT YOU

With a historic number — over 40% — of the global workforce reporting that they plan on leaving their jobs this year, loyal employees can feel left behind. In many cases, simply being a new employee in a new company can pay off, as external hires enjoy many benefits not afforded to internal hires in similar positions. In addition, with so many new people joining a team, the work environment shifts in both subtle and obvious ways. If you're in the position of suddenly being the senior member on a team of new recruits, here are four strategies to help you manage yourself. Harvard Business Review

Everyone Will Be Able To Clone Their Voice In The Future | The Verge

EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO CLONE THEIR VOICE IN THE FUTURE

All you need to do is talk into a microphone for 30 minutes or so, reading a script as carefully as you can. After starting and stopping dozens of times to re-record your flubs and mumbles, you'll send off the resulting audio files to be processed and, in a few hours' time, be told that a copy of your voice is ready and waiting. Then, you can type anything you want into a chatbox, and your AI clone will say it back to you, with the resulting audio realistic to fool even friends and family — at least for a few moments. The fact that such a service even exists may be news to many, and I don't believe we've begun to fully consider the impact easy access to this technology will have. The Verge

Support for up to seven devices at the same time and 24/7 customer service make it one of the most consumer-friendly VPNs out there. CyberGhost

Scientists Find Tissue Deformities In Seafood Linked To Deepwater Horizon Spill | Futurism

SCIENTISTS FIND TISSUE DEFORMITIES IN SEAFOOD LINKED TO DEEPWATER HORIZON SPILL

Researchers have discovered more evidence that oil spills can have long-lasting impacts on marine life even more than a decade after a spill. Scientists have found that Eastern oysters from the Gulf Coast region affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster of 2010 have a much higher rate of metaplasia — a condition in which tissue forms abnormally — than Eastern oysters in regions not impacted by oil spills, according to a press release from the California Academy of Sciences. The findings are some of the strongest indicators that oil spills can have long-term effects on a region's ecological health. Futurism
