Google Is Beta Testing Its AI Future | The Verge

GOOGLE IS BETA TESTING ITS AI FUTURE

Google — and the field of AI language research in general — faces major problems. Google itself has seriously mishandled internal criticism, firing employees who raised issues with bias in language models and damaging its reputation within the AI community. And researchers continue to find issues with AI language models, from failings with gender and racial biases to the fact that these models have a tendency to simply make things up (an unnerving finding for anyone who wants to use AI to deliver reliable information). THIS PORTABLE CHARGER JUICES UP YOUR DEVICES ON THE GO

Different devices require different dongles and plugs, making on-the-go charging a bulky and messy affair. But if you don't want to deal with various peripherals when you're out and about, the MagStack is a great companion. This on-the-go wireless station can refuel multiple devices simultaneously and can even be transformed into a floating stand when not used for charging. Popular Science

CRYPTO FANS ARE SO DUMB THEY'RE CLICKING .EXE FILES DISGUISED AS NFTS

Somehow, NFTs are even worse than we realized. A report from cybersecurity firm Malwarebytes found that there's been a marked increase in malware campaigns geared towards the NFT community, where enthusiasts seem to be the perfect marks, not only because they're often technically naΓ―ve enthusiasts but also because they often have high value digital assets on their computers. Carvana Laid Off 2,500 Employees, Many Of Them Over Zoom | Engadget

CARVANA LAID OFF 2,500 EMPLOYEES, MANY OF THEM OVER ZOOM

On Tuesday, online used car retailer Carvana laid off 12 percent of its workforce, reports Protocol. According to Twitter reports, the startup incited 'mass hysteria' among workers when it sent a company-wide email at 7:30AM informing everyone of the impending job cuts but not specifying who would be affected. In the end, Carvana told approximately 2,500 workers, many of them in 'operational positions,' they no longer had a job with the company. The startup shared the news in person and in a Zoom call some employees said was pre-recorded, a claim Carvana strongly disputes. Engadget
