Scientists Open Door To Manipulating 'Quantum Light' | Phys.org

Scientists at the University of Sydney and the University of Basel have identified and manipulated small numbers of interacting photons — a substantial breakthrough in quantum tech. How did they do it? According to Phys.org, by measuring the direct time delay between one photon and a pair of bound photons scattering off a single quantum dot. QOTD: Pop Quiz: When Is The Next Y2K-Esque Event?

//FROM YESTERDAY

WE QUIZZED YOU: WHEN IS THE NEXT Y2K-ESQUE EVENT?

The correct answer is, technically… “2038,” though if you answer “Never again,” you’re probably not wrong because it’ll either be just like Y2K and a whole lotta nothing or we’ll just fix it ahead of time.

Here’s the breakdown:

Δ 33.7% of you said “Never again” — Like we said, not wrong but also not technically correct, we guess?

Δ 22.2% of you said “2038” — Technically true, because according to Wikipedia, that’s when the next big “uh-oh, our computers can’t do math” event is.

Δ 19% of you said “2049” — We like you. We stan Blade Runner 2049 as well.

Δ 16.3% of you said “2122” — Sorry, but most of us will likely be around for it.

Δ 8.7% of you said “2024” — Ooh, let’s hope not!
