Sunshine Is Transformed Into Green Hydrogen On An Ambitious Scale: Prototype Facility Smashes Record For Converting Solar Power To Hydrogen For Its Technology Category | Nature Energy

SUNSHINE IS TRANSFORMED INTO GREEN HYDROGEN ON AN AMBITIOUS SCALE: PROTOTYPE FACILITY SMASHES RECORD FOR CONVERTING SOLAR POWER TO HYDROGEN FOR ITS TECHNOLOGY CATEGORY

It’s about to get real science-y, real quick, so buckle up. According to Nature Energy, researchers have successfully scaled up a photoelectrochemical device that co-generates hydrogen and heat from concentrated solar irradiation to a kW-scale pilot plant, achieving a solar-to-hydrogen device-level efficiency of more than 20% at a hydrogen production rate of over 2.0 kW. The pilot plant is a promising pathway to a sustainable fuel economy and chemical industry, and the researchers identified solutions to the key technological challenges, control and operation strategies to improve the efficiency of the system. The solar energy to the hydrogen, oxygen and heat co-generation system can play an important role in the wide-scale implementation and use of solar fuel technologies.

Deep Space Missions Must Recreate Exact Earth-Like Conditions To Survive, Scientists Argue | Gizmodo

In order to explore deep space, you need to feel like you never left your home, at least that’s what Gizmodo reports. A new theory called "pancosmorio" argues that humans will only thrive on deep space missions if they recreate Earth-like ecosystems, including gravity, oxygen, and reliable sources of water, as well as steady agricultural output and the recycling of waste. The theory takes a holistic approach to the problem of human survivability in space and argues that recreating the environmental and societal networks that have allowed humankind to evolve and thrive on Earth is essential.
