"Switzerland-based startup FinalSpark claims to have built a unique computer processor made from 16 mini brains made from human brain tissue, Tom's Hardware reports — and they are positioning this 'living computer' as an alternative to silicon-based computing. … 'One of the biggest advantages of biological computing is that neurons compute information with much less energy than digital computers,' FinalSpark scientist and strategic advisor Ewelina Kurtys wrote. 'It is estimated that living neurons can use over 1 million times less energy than the current digital processors we use.'" |

"Scientists have discovered the potential existence of a bizarre new molecule related to water. Dubbed 'aquodiium,' this ion could form under extreme conditions and may explain some of the weirdness of our solar system's ice giant planets. … The ice giants, Uranus and Neptune, have weird magnetic fields that don't line up with the planets' rotation or their physical centers. Aquodiium could be responsible for generating those magnetic fields, and intriguingly, the pressures and temperatures deep in these planets are similar to those in recent study simulations." |
"Research shows that dogs almost certainly dream. Any doubt comes from the fact that they can't use language to communicate their experiences and confirm, yes, they had a nightmare about the vacuum cleaner last night. … 'It's not about finding that one piece of evidence that will make or break the case for animal dreaming … It's rather about analyzing a complex web of evidentiary support.' A cursory YouTube search confirms dogs twitch, kick, and do plenty of adorable things in their sleep. None of that proves they're dreaming. But their brain activity highly suggests it." |
Self-driving cars aren't exactly news anymore (we're looking at you, Tesla), but they're also not exactly realistic (again, cough, Tesla). Ditching your current ride for a smart EV isn't just impractical; it's way, way too expensive. Epilog is making automated cars a reality for everyone with its patented computer vision tech that brings self-driving capabilities to ordinary cars. With better image quality than other self-driving solutions, Epilog's SideCar is the safest and most affordable option on the market. And now, you can join them by investing while they're still in their early stages. [Ad] |
"I don't think it's hyperbole to say that the American public would start a nationwide riot if the price of a Costco hotdog ever increased. … Which is why, perhaps, Gary Millerchip, the new CFO of Costco felt the need to make a statement to quell potential violence from disgruntled shoppers. 'To clear up some recent media speculation, I also want to confirm the $1.50 hot dog price is safe,' said Millerchip." Craving a Costco hotdog now? Become a Gold Star Member today. |

There's probably no site on the Internet more despised by CEOs than Glassdoor. It gives employees an opportunity to provide "constructive" feedback, but often it can be a place for "revenge posts." Looking back more objectively now, I can see more nuggets of truth in my own reviews. My leadership style was and still is very hands-on. But over time I have learned how to discern between micromanagement and what I call "macro-mentorship." If you're an early-stage manager/leader/CEO, here's what I would do differently… |
