Unboxing the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE, 'New Edition' (presumably), which boosts the performance and slims down the design vs the original 5G. This hands-on review covers the camera tech, tests the gaming chops and explores the specs of the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE model. Stay tuned for an in-depth analysis, the UK release date is October, no word on price yet.
At under 7mm thick, this is one of the most slender smartphones of 2021. You get Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G chipset running the show, as seen in Samsung's Galaxy A52s 5G and the Moto Edge 20. Gamers will appreciate the extra power, although I did see some juddery performance in Genshin Impact. PubG etc should run fine, though.
Xiaomi's MiUI 12 is on board the 11 Lite 5G NE as usual, adding a handful of bonus features to Android - but you also get plenty of crapware and no guarantee of OS and security updates well into the future. Meanwhile the 64MP primary camera sensor seems respectable, although struggles with kittens and kids in ambient environments.
