Exomoons Orbiting Rogue Planets In Deep Space May Harbor Alien Life | Interesting Engineering

EXOMOONS ORBITING ROGUE PLANETS IN DEEP SPACE MAY HARBOR ALIEN LIFE

Moons orbiting rogue planets, which have broken free of their host star and are roaming deep space, could be a candidate for alien life, according to a new study by the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, reports Interesting Engineering. No exomoons have been directly detected, but scientists believe they are abundant throughout the universe. The researchers found that exomoons with tight orbits around FFPs have a reasonable chance of supporting life, particularly earth-sized moons with Venus-like atmospheres.

You’re Probably Hungry Right Now, Huh? | HungryRoot

YOU’RE PROBABLY HUNGRY RIGHT NOW, HUH?

It’s fine, so are we. If we, at The Futurist, have learned anything, it’s to keep a stocked pantry full of healthy and delicious snacks that will keep us filled and happy throughout the day. Here’s the problem: It’s sometimes hard to get to the store and when you do, it’s hard to make decisions and, eventually, you just stock up on chips and snack cakes. If only there were a way to have healthy, fresh, delicious groceries magically appear at your doorstep with everything from recommendations, and recipes to pantry staples, snacks, and more… Oh, who are we kidding?

Clearview AI Used Nearly 1 Million Times By U.S. Police | BBC

Clearview AI, a facial recognition firm, has conducted almost one million searches for US police, according to founder Hoan Ton-That (as reported by the BBC). The company has 30 billion images in its database, harvested from social media platforms without user permission, and faces accusations of widespread breaches of privacy. Although banned from selling its services to most US companies, Clearview AI is permitted to work with law enforcement agencies, leading to concerns of a "perpetual police line-up".

About one hour north of Amsterdam is a place called “Seed Valley,” (yes, a play on Silicon Valley) a magical place where they breed seeds to solve one of the world’s biggest problems: Hunger. Get Ready To Feel Electric (Minus The Jitters Or Coffee Breath) | Verb

No offense, but you’re tired. We’re not saying you look tired (we’re not even saying we can see you) but we know, we understand, we live in the same world as you (for the most part). Like you, we’ve been guilty of overdoing it on the coffee front — once, in the office, a team member gobbled down a bag of chocolate-covered espresso beans, only to be sent home because, and we quote, “They were drumming on their chest and singing Foo Fighters too loudly.” What if we told you that you could get the wake-up you want without the jitters? You could get everything you needed, but it’s plant-based, tastes delicious, and won’t make you jump around like Flea at a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert?

Virtual reality (VR) therapy has been touted for years as a way to help people overcome phobias, anxiety and stress, but adoption of the technology for this purpose has been slow, reports CNET. Despite modern VR headsets being widely available since 2016, high costs, slow adoption, and a lack of awareness about VR therapy have held back progress.
