Emotet Malware Distributed As Fake W-9 Tax Forms From The IRS | Bleeping Computer

EMOTET MALWARE DISTRIBUTED AS FAKE W-9 TAX FORMS FROM THE IRS

Happy tax season, everyone! A new phishing campaign using the Emotet malware is targeting U.S. taxpayers through emails containing fake W-9 tax form attachments, impersonating IRS agents and business partners, reports Bleeping Computer. The malware was previously delivered through Word and Excel documents with malicious macros, but has now switched to OneNote files with embedded scripts to install Emotet on the victim's device. Once installed, Emotet will steal victims' emails for future attacks, send spam, and ultimately install other malware that can provide access to ransomware gangs.

Brazilian Scientists Capture How Lightning Rods Attract Bolts | NDTV

Two Brazilian scientists, Marcelo Saba and Diego Rhamon, have captured a unique and viral image of lightning strikes using a high-speed video camera, per NDTV. The image shows details of the connections to nearby buildings and the lightning rod's ability to protect the structure from extremely high currents produced by lightning. The final image was obtained 25 thousandths of a second before the lightning hit one of the buildings.

New Hubble Photo Shows Uranus Looking Paler Than Ever | BGR

NASA's Hubble telescope has captured new images of Uranus showcasing how the blue planet experiences seasonal changes, with a thick photochemical haze indicating the planet's northern pole, according to BGR. Despite the images, there is still much to learn about the oddball planet, with astronomers calling for probes to be sent to Uranus. However, with NASA's Return to Venus mission facing delays and hiccups, it is unclear when or if NASA will send craft to Uranus.

If only there were a way to have healthy, fresh, delicious groceries magically appear at your doorstep with everything from recommendations, recipes, pantry staples, snacks, and more… Oh, who are we kidding?

An 'Einstein' Tile? Mathematicians Discover Pattern That Never Repeats | Interesting Engineering

Computer scientists have discovered a new tile, called the "einstein", which is a shape with 13 sides that can cover an entire plane without ever repeating a pattern, according to Interesting Engineering. It is the first true aperiodic monotile, a shape that forces aperiodicity through geometry alone, with no additional constraints applied via matching conditions. The tile has real-world applications in material science and the discovery is being hailed as a breakthrough in the history of aperiodic tiles.
