Italy Wants To Build The World's Longest Suspension Bridge To Sicily | Jalopnik

ITALY WANTS TO BUILD THE WORLD'S LONGEST SUSPENSION BRIDGE TO SICILY

The Italian government plans to build a suspension bridge, the longest in the world, to link Sicily and southern Italy across the Strait of Messina, according to Jalopnik. However, this project has faced opposition. Many citizens on both sides of the bridge have spoken out against it due to emotional attachment to the ferry, environmental concerns and financial reasons. Some factors that make the engineering process difficult include the geological structure of the Strait of Messina, high winds, and geological movement of the region.

A 3D-Printing Company Is Preparing To Build On The Lunar Surface. But First, A Moonshot At Home | CNN

Texas-based 3D printing architecture company ICON scored a NASA contract to build 3D-printed facilities on the moon. But according to CNN, before they do that, they have some business to take care of here on Earth. ICON’s Initiative 99 is a design competition aimed at creating homes that can be 3D-printed for $99,000 or less. The contest, which offers a prize of $1 million, will seek submissions for low-cost housing ideas that address the affordability crisis the US is currently facing. According to ICON CEO Jason Ballard, the competition is "a call to arms for the global architecture and design community" to revolutionize the industry.

Wind And Solar Generated A Record Amount Of Global Power In 2022 | CNBC

According to CNBC, last year's growth in wind and solar energy led to the cleanest-ever level of worldwide electricity generation. In a report published by Ember, they found that 12% of power generated globally came from solar and wind energy in 2022. Faking A Cold To Get Out Of Work? AI Might Tell If You’re Actually Sick | Global News

Researchers from the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology in India are developing AI technology that can detect whether a person has a cold or not based on the sound of their voice, according to Global News. The study aims to identify illness over the phone to help prevent the spread of viruses. Don’t worry, the research is still in its very early stages and requires further fine-tuning. Also, joke’s on them, because we have unlimited PTO.

//YESTERDAY’S QUIZ

WE ASKED: WHAT COLOR IS A SUNSET ON MARS?

  • 33.3% of you said “Red” — Red planet, red sunset, sound logic.
  • 21.8% of you said “Orange” — Again, orange is close to red and with the above logic, yeah… makes sense you’d think that.
  • 12.6% of you said “Blue” — But Mars isn’t blue, so how could that even be possible?
  • 11.5% of you said “Yellow” — That’d probably be very bright and not very pretty, but it’s Mars, who knows! (Spoiler: Scientists know.)
  • 9.2% of you said “Indigo” — You can probably tell the pattern in the color choices here by now...
  • 5.7% of you said “Violet” — Come on, it would be pretty though.
  • 3.4% of you said “Green” — We thought this one would be higher because aliens are, by caricature standards, green and Mars probably houses martian aliens so… carry the 1… divide… yeah, makes sense.

The correct answer: Blue!

According to NASA, “Fine dust makes the blue near the Sun's part of the sky much more prominent [during a Martian sunset].”
