"Every year around the world, amateur birdwatchers record millions of sightings in databases that are available for analysis. All that monitoring has revealed some sobering trends. Over the last 50 years, North America has lost a third of its birds, studies suggest, and most bird species are in decline. Because birds are indicators of environmental integrity and of how other, less scrutinized species are doing, data like these should be a call to action, says Peter Marra, a conservation biologist and dean of Georgetown University's Earth Commons Institute."

EV sales now 14% of world auto sales | Clean Technica

"Global plugin vehicle registrations were up 70% in April 2023 compared to April 2022. There were 928,000 registrations, making it possibly the last month with fewer than one million sales per month ever for plugin electric vehicles. In the end, plugins represented 14% share of the overall auto market (10% BEV share alone). This means that the global automotive market remains in the Electric Disruption Zone."

Deep-brain stimulation may strengthen your memories while you sleep | Inverse

"...a group of researchers led by the University of California, Los Angeles Health found direct physiological evidence of exactly how the hippocampus and neocortex partner up to encode and reinforce memories during the third stage of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep called deep or slow-wave sleep. These scientists also found that when you zap your brain during this phase with what's called deep-brain stimulation, the boost in electricity also appears to boost memory."
