What lies beyond: Exploring interstellar space | The Quantum Cat

"Sixty thousand years ago, at a time long before our ancestors settled down and became farmers, our solar system entered the Local Interstellar Cloud. The name is perhaps misleading. Though we call it a "cloud", the concentration of matter within it is tenuous, far weaker than any cloud found on Earth. Yet compared to its surroundings, this cloud is an area of density: a region where dust and gas exist in slightly greater quantities."

Why you should read The Merge

In air combat, aerial warfighters engage with enemy aircraft by steering their plane toward the adversary. This concept is called "going to the merge." It's also an incredibly unique and engaging newsletter. There's a reason people in the Pentagon and Congress read the Merge. They get weekly knowledge bombs on the intersection of defense business, technology, and industry happenings — with a sprinkle of history, policy, and strategy — delivered with fighter pilot wit. That's why we at The Futurist love it, we get a weekly sneak peek into the most intense tech sector there is: Defense. Go to The Merge each week, we dare you. [Ad]

Threads — Instagram's answer to Twitter's downfall — is here | Mashable

"If there's one thing we can count on Meta to do, it's copy another app. Following the latest stretch of tweeting confusion, Instagram's Twitter competitor, Threads, has arrived. The new app, which launched [yesterday] for iOS and Android, is basically exactly like your old app, Twitter, but with less Elon Musk and more Mark Zuckerberg. Each post can be up to 500 characters long, in comparison to Twitter's 280 or Twitter Blue's exorbitant 25,000, and each Threads post can include links, photos, and videos up to five minutes long — twice as long as Twitter's two and a half minutes but far shorter than Twitter Blue's two-hour-long ability.
