NASA to launch sounding rockets into Moon’s shadow during solar eclipse | NASA

“NASA will launch three sounding rockets during the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, to study how Earth’s upper atmosphere is affected when sunlight momentarily dims over a portion of the planet. The Atmospheric Perturbations around Eclipse Path (APEP) sounding rockets will launch from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia to study the disturbances in the ionosphere created when the Moon eclipses the Sun. … The sounding rockets will launch at three different times: 45 minutes before, during, and 45 minutes after the peak local eclipse. These intervals are important to collect data on how the Sun’s sudden disappearance affects the ionosphere, creating disturbances that have the potential to interfere with our communications.”

Lovesac - Your life may be a mess, but don’t take it out on your couch [Partner]

Mistakes happen: from small whoopsies like dropping crumbs between the cushions to big uh-ohs like spilling red wine all over your couch. You can’t exactly throw your furniture into the washing machine… except… with Lovesac, you kinda can. Their Sactionals couches and Sac seats come with removable and machine-washable covers that make those little oopsies no biggie at all. And even if you’re a neat freak who never spills anything (we don’t believe you), having removable covers is still pretty convenient for whenever you get tired of your couch’s look and want to give it a little refresh. Lovesac Sactionals couches and Sac chairs are now on sale for 30% off for a limited time during their Easter Flash Sale. [Ad]

Every Android 15 feature we know about so far | Lifehacker

“We’re expecting to finally hear more about Android 15 when Google I/O hits in May — but we already know a good bit about what the new operating system will entail, thanks to Google’s Android Developer Program, which has allowed developers to access Android 15 on select devices for the past couple of months. Chief among the changes coming to Android 15 is the inclusion of some new improvements to the UI and UX. Each of the options noted here has either been highlighted by Google itself or showcased in a released build for Android 15.”

Adobe’s GenStudio brings brand-safe generative AI to marketers | TechCrunch

“Brands want to use generative AI to personalize their marketing efforts — but they are also deathly afraid of AI going off message and ruining their brand. At its annual Summit conference in Las Vegas, Adobe today announced GenStudio, a new application that helps brands create content and measure its performance, with generative AI — and the promise of brand safety — at its center. … Adobe wants GenStudio, which it first previewed last September, to be an end-to-end solution to help marketers tailor their content to different channels and audience segments. It includes tools for content creation, managing campaigns, and analytics.”

Dice Cream - You can now invest in ice cream, and it’s about as sweet as it sounds [Partner]

It’s not as terrifying as it sounds. On the contrary, it might just be one of today’s most exciting developments in the robotics and food service industries. In this day and age, ice cream shops see extremely low profit margins. Why? Because ice cream is relatively cheap, but the labor cost and real estate expenses aren’t. Dice Cream is remedying that with a cutting-edge robotic arm that scoops and serves ice cream (in a dice shape, of course, and complete with all the toppings you love). The bot is fully autonomous, which means more efficient and cost-effective scooping. So, yes, robots are taking over the world — but in this case, in a really sweet way. Join the movement by investing today and be eligible for bonus shares with any investment over $1,500.  [Ad]

Wait, so how much caffeine is okay? | The Takeout

“Since the emergence of the Panera ‘Charged Lemonade’ lawsuits, I’ve found myself wondering about my own caffeine consumption. Is my normal routine too much? If I have a work deadline to meet, would it be dangerous to add one more cup in the afternoon? To get the answers to these questions, I connected with Jennifer Temple, Director of the Nutrition and Health Research Laboratory at University at Buffalo. Temple’s research includes, among other things, the effect of caffeine on the body.”
